HP Slate – Microsoft Windows 7 Powered HP built HP Slate

Microsoft powered and HP built, HP Slate got some air lately when Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave out a few hints on how the upcoming HP Slate might look like. Though it’s still all speculations as not much of a detail has reached the media. We however know for sure that it will be powered by Microsoft Windows 7 and a touch screen windows 7 sure sounds good. It’s going to be more like a PC however the size of it is slightly bigger than a phone. It will have a few modes, like a PC mode or a phone mode, or just flip it and start reading ebooks in the ebook mode.

Overall the design is good, simple and clean, but I must say that Ballmer’s head was outshining the phone :P. The release time would be around the end of this year which is quite a long time now, and the price is expected to be around $600 which is quite heavy from a phone’s point of view but good if you think it in terms of a pc.

Apparently, apple is planning on a similar project and looks like the competition will be tight. I hope apple comes up with something different at least in the features, otherwise HP Slate, tablet, pc/phone, palm top or whatever it will be named will definitely get an early advantage. However, I still feel that Ballmer hurried with the announcement just to take the early advantage; I mean announce something with such little details makes no other sense.

don’t know how much innovative it is, apple is planning on a similar project and it looks like ms. actually tried to pitch it’s similar product before apple could make its announcement.

I’m pretty much impressed with the stability of Windows 7. It is better than windows Vista which hogs my memory and cpu.'”~
