October 7, back in 1952 was the date when bar code was patented. Google celebrates today the barcode anniversary by putting barcode design in its Google doodle logo. Barcode is a machine understandable optical display of data, which is usually seen on packets.

History of barcode – back in 1932, Wallace flint wrote about the automated grocery store idea. Then later, on 20th October 1949 the patient was filed which was on issued on 7th October 1952 as an US patient number – 2,612,994.
Google doodle is celebrating such important dates on a consistent basis and whenever people see such a logo on Google frontpage, they start wondering what it is all about. Am sure this particular bar code on Google logo is going to get a lot of air too.
